Ukraine Appeal

On The Brook is pleased to announce that in conjunction with RAISE - Refugee Action in Somerset East, we are launching an appeal to help those fleeing Ukraine.

We're asking for donations from a select list of items that we know will be needed. The list is below. The first collection will be on Saturday 12 March from 10am to 4pm. Delivery point is On The Brook, Bruton, BA10 0QP.

Items to donate:

- Toiletries (new and unopened): Shampoo, Shower Gel, Soap, Tooth Brushes, Tooth Paste, Body lotion, Deodorant.

- New underwear for women, men & children, no bigger than large, still in original packaging.

- Warm single blankets in good condition.

- Sanitary pads.

- Nappies.

- Clothes wash.

- Tea, Coffee, Baby milk powder.

How it works:
Drop your donations at the café at On The Brook. Volunteers sort items, pack into boxes, and then onto a pallet. Hope and Aid Direct pick up the pallet, which will be delivered in truck convoy direct to the refugees.

It's likely the list of needed items will expand when we get more information from the region: one of the Hope and Aid Direct Trustees is out there at the moment. We'll update you when there is more news. It's unlikely to include pre-loved clothes as we understand there is already a surplus in the region.

Hope and Aid Direct are an established UK charity with years of experience in delivering aid to those in need across Europe. They have a fleet of humanitarian aid trucks, logistical know-how, and links with local aid agencies in the region. They really know how to get aid delivered and distributed. They are entirely volunteer run and so very cost-efficient.
