Ukraine Donation drop Saturday 28 May between 11am and 3pm

We're having one last push to send aid to Ukraine on Saturday 28th May between 11.00 and 3pm at On The Brook, Coombe Farm, Bruton, BA10 0QP.

We'll have volunteers at On the Brook to receive your donations from 11.00 - 3pm on Saturday 28th May. If you're collecting a larger amount (like a van or trailer-full) or can't make that date, then please email Christine christine@raise.today for an alternative drop off time.

Our full needs list is above. If there is anything you can contribute we'd be really grateful. Some of our supporters have managed to get their neighbours, schools, or community groups to do collections for us and that has been brilliant too.

Ukraine Appeal Update

Thank you so much for all your donations and support!

We got 13 pallets of aid sorted, packed and sent on in less than a week. This is an amazing result and thanks to all who helped by donating aid, the teams of volunteers who sorted and packed, those who sourced banana boxes, collected aid from their communities, put up posters, shared our posts on social media, transported aid, to make it possible.

We also raised nearly £500.00 from the coins that were donated. Over £100.00 from miscellaneous currencies, Euro 280.00, US$35 and £100 on old and new UK coins.

We're offering to exchange the Euros and USD (mainly coins and a few notes) at the Bank of England's official exchange rate. This will save bank fees and from coming back from your trip with coins. If interested, please get in touch with Sophie or Pat at 01749 812543 or email info@onthebrook.co.uk.

Hope and Aid Direct, the charity that will be transporting this aid to the Ukraine borders are now planning to depart in just over a week. They will be heading to Slovakia: the aid you donated will be taken inside Ukraine from there. They have already delivered baby boxes and field hospital beds and are returning for more.

Our appeal is ongoing because the crisis continues

The needs list has altered slightly (as it will continue to do).

We hope to offer donation drop times on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Please email to book a delivery time. This is essential as we need to balance donations with the space and volunteers needed and keep our mini supply chain flowing!

Please email Christine at christine@raise.today to organise a drop date/time. Please also email if you'd like to volunteer to help sort and pack.

Our revised needs list is:

Ukraine Appeal

On The Brook is pleased to announce that in conjunction with RAISE - Refugee Action in Somerset East, we are launching an appeal to help those fleeing Ukraine.

We're asking for donations from a select list of items that we know will be needed. The list is below. The first collection will be on Saturday 12 March from 10am to 4pm. Delivery point is On The Brook, Bruton, BA10 0QP.

Items to donate:

- Toiletries (new and unopened): Shampoo, Shower Gel, Soap, Tooth Brushes, Tooth Paste, Body lotion, Deodorant.

- New underwear for women, men & children, no bigger than large, still in original packaging.

- Warm single blankets in good condition.

- Sanitary pads.

- Nappies.

- Clothes wash.

- Tea, Coffee, Baby milk powder.

How it works:
Drop your donations at the café at On The Brook. Volunteers sort items, pack into boxes, and then onto a pallet. Hope and Aid Direct pick up the pallet, which will be delivered in truck convoy direct to the refugees.

It's likely the list of needed items will expand when we get more information from the region: one of the Hope and Aid Direct Trustees is out there at the moment. We'll update you when there is more news. It's unlikely to include pre-loved clothes as we understand there is already a surplus in the region.

Hope and Aid Direct are an established UK charity with years of experience in delivering aid to those in need across Europe. They have a fleet of humanitarian aid trucks, logistical know-how, and links with local aid agencies in the region. They really know how to get aid delivered and distributed. They are entirely volunteer run and so very cost-efficient.
